Thanks for reminding us about the devastating Great Fire in Atlanta of 1917 SGT John " Mac " McConnell which shrouded in smoke and ash for weeks.
Fire is a natural part of the thinning out of thick forests; but, it tends to be a man-made destructive method in urban areas.
Yes this unplanned fire was devastating and yes it altered Atlanta. A century later Atlanta is a varied city which attracts many to its downtown and suburbs.

Fires like these showed that fire can be your best friend or worst enemy. It reminds me of the great fires that plagued London.
