Since the collapse of the Soviet Union I fail to understand the whole Cuba thing... We have all these sanctions and yet China is a number one trade partner. On the scale of injustice China is way bigger. There are many evil dictators in the world and yet this one has been a thorn in our side since the Cuban Missile crisis... or perhaps the Bay of Pigs... or maybe since Ricky Ricardo was allowed to marry Lucile Ball... or was it the Mambo that did it?

I don’t believe it’s difficult to understand: They are a communist government that took a lot of people’s property and have glaring civil rights violations “to this day”. The bottom line is that they are not very nice people and we shouldn’t have anything to do with them until they change. The change must come first. China is a completely different story and part of the world. Ricky is my favorite character on “I Love Lucy”. :)

SFC (Join to see) - China is not completely different, Cuba is a time island that can harm no one other than their own people. They both start with C and coincidentally so does Communism which is both countries form of government. China is large place with about 37% of the world's population. And in regards to Human rights violations China is way worse than Cuba.

Reality’s of the world: size counts. If Cuba had 37% of the world’s population our country may be doing stuff differently. We’re not talking about right and wrong, just what is.

If he can gain more concessions from the Castro regime, and still move toward more normal relations, I'm all for it. If he just wants to scrap the whole thing because Obama put it together, then he is on the wrong track. We have a lot of businesses that would like to expand into the Cuban market, and a lot of people that would like to travel back and forth to Cuba more easily. If we can do business with Red China, and Russia......why do we single out Cuba and say "but not you"? Look at the ton of business we just agreed to do with Saudi Arabia......are they not a repressive regime as well?

Absolute agree. I guess Cuba is not "our" repressive regime. To be honest I think it goes back to the entwined histories of the US and Cuba over the 125 years and how they were a big enemy of US for many years. It was kind of absurd in hind sight but it was what it was.

I realize Cuba has not been friendly toward us in the past......but hey, we have a little history with Germany and Japan too......and we do plenty of business with them. Go figure.....

Former President Obama: being kind was a terrible negotiator, or at worst wanted to give away all our countries wealth to make the world better, our country be damned. I’ve traveled a bit in the Caribbean and after speaking with many locals can say our country hasn’t always been fair in the region, especially in the 1950’s and 60’s when we shifted sugar production out of the region, and even longer before that. We changed many ways of lives; there are many other examples but space is limited here. That’s all water under the bridge.

My opinion, for what it’s worth is: if Cuba wants to join the free world, fine the water’s warm come in. If they want to continue beating their own people down and have terrible human rights record: stay out in the cold.
