Two Med Cruises on CV-59 and I would agree that it was an old Carrier but I never felt that it was cursed. My Squadron was always able to launch and recover when we needed without a catch, food was good, not great but hot food that was good. Ship never had any major issue while we were at sea. Yes that video was mandatory viewing each year. Training (Fire, Flood and Munitions) and protocol was constantly rehearsed.

I know members that were there and one of them was blown off the flight deck during one of the explosions. Being an AO, I often had training with this incident drilled into our minds.
