I used to go to AAA to reregister my car each year until the state provided an online facility for this. On my last trip to AAA, the woman who took my registration payment began making a pitch for me to purchase their auto insurance. I interrupted her saying that I had USAA. "Oh," she responded, "I've heard that's the best." Yes, not just the rates but the service, I explained. I went on to tell her about the fact that USAA membership was a legacy that my children were enjoying and that their children would also enjoy when they were old enough. She then told me that her son was a Marine and asked if the "legacy" system would allow her to become a USAA member. I didn't know but gave her the phone number so she could check for herself. (Later, I learned that she couldn't) I left the building chuckling to myself at what had happened.

Sgt Kelli Mays Thanks for the great advice and actual experience. I've been with USAA since the 80's and its been the best car insurance for me and my family by far!

I joined USAA while still an ROTC cadet. For life!
