What Flake and others fail to realize is his party (the voters) are tired of the GOP being democrat-lite and not driving real change in DC. There has been no better proof offered up than this entire Obamacare repeal/repeal and replace fiasco. The GOP was not ready to govern when they should have been and some do not have the courage of their convictions as demonstrated by their inability to get a bill they could, as a party, support and pass.

Ryan in the House and McConnell in the Senate are inept and unable to get their party aligned and squandered valuable time from election day (When Trump won and they knew Obamacare would be a thrust) to inauguration day and all the way to today not being ready to govern. Either they are inept of complicit in wanting to maintain the status quo. Either of these is really unacceptable.

Flake fails to realize the GOP voters have given them the House, the Senate and the White House and what is his reaction? Trump is the problem. No Flake, you are the problem. You and others like you that would not vote for a repeal or a repeal and replace when you had done so for 7 years when you knew Obama would not sign it and there was 0.0 chance his veto would be overridden.

The GOP has passed a number of pieces of legislation but not any of the biggies yet (Obamacare, Tax Program, Infrastructure etc). The dems have positioned themselves squarely as the party of "no" (opposed to the GOP) which is their prerogative to do. They are doing a far better job hanging together than the GOP is.

I am curious as to what country or government you would hold up as an example of success that did not have elements of "democrat lite"? What is your model of successful government?

As for being the "party of No", you can bet Democrats watched the unprecedented levels of obstruction during the Obama presidency and, now that Republicans hold the House, Senate, Oval Office, and were able to appoint a Supreme Court justice through the use of obstructionists tactics, determined that obstruction works - at least in the short term.

Hmmm GOP did a very good job as the party of "no" under Obama; why else did things like sequestration happen. What held them together was opposition of Obama until they can control government; now they control government and we see just how dysfunctional they've always been as they hid under the cloak of "Obama Opposition" for 8 years.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - Steve, You might want to reread my post. I was talking about elements of the GOP that appear to be democrat-lite. I have no issue with people being that way but the ought to run that way too. We have GOP members that run and talk one way and govern/vote another. That is an issue inside the party, not a general governmental issue.

I wasn't criticizing the democrats for being the party of "no" only making the observation that they stick together far better than the GOP does as a body. I am not sure what, exactly you seem to be in disagreement with.

The very first line is false. "Your" party didn't create President Trump. Donald Trump was elected in spite of you. We the People elected him because neither party offered us a viable alternative and we're tired of your failures.

What first line you reading? The first line of the article was very clear the The People were tired of both parties and Trump rose to fill the void. The first line nailed the premise, the Americans that felt abandoned and ignored by both major parties that run government sought (and I use this term loosely) an "outsider" for president.

I agree that the title of the article was wrong.

Well, I disagree with the author's premise: "...but making Obama a one-term president—the corollary to this binary thinking being that his failure would be our success...". Honest conservatives may have wanted a one-term Obama presidency in order to avoid harm to the nation (as they saw it) or in order to elect someone who would enact better policy. Same is true for honest liberals who want to see a one-term Trump presidency. It's not always wanting the current president to fail, if you feel "your side" has better ideas.

Ltc Michael Martin are you trying to demean me. I state facts and you trying to troll me here is something may or may not comprehend. Lying and changing your lies doesn't make wise it show weakness, trump is a liar and I believe you may not understand the people not the trump clowns or your run the country and lying to congress is crime collusion with the Russians is a crime. Now read this
Sarah Huckabee Sanders Suggests Trump 'Weighed In On' Son’s Response To Russia Meeting

WASHINGTON ― White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday all but confirmed that President Donald Trump dictated his son’s public response to a meeting with a Russian lawyer. Her statement directly contradicts the president’s legal team and may place him in legal jeopardy, as there are multiple ongoing investigations into whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia last year.

LTC (Join to see) - Since you have asked for the legal justification, I am going to link the DOJ Memorandum for the AG that covers the matter at length. I have not read it in full yet, certainly will and will be interested to hear your interpretation as well.
Here is said memo: https://www.washingtonpost.com/r/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2014/06/23/National-Security/Graphics/memodrones.pdf

MAJ James Woods - Those same laws were in effect when Obama was President. I agree that the laws may have been over-reaching in the extreme, but you can admit that Obama didn't exactly get rid of them either.

SSG (Join to see) - Which law? The seizure and sell of assets law? Oh he addressed it along with so many other issues involving aspects of law enforcement that are violating rights of individuals. What happened? He was labeled enemy of law enforcement and GOP in Congress used it to their benefit. The random search of what is on your laptop and cellphone did not exist under Obama so you can't be talking about that. Legalizing racial profiling? Nope, Obama definitely didn't advocate that in his policies. U.S. citizens turned terrorists don't get due process? Yep those terrorists overseas fighting our military don't get due process but the ones stateside do. But do keep blaming Obama for policies of Trump administration.
