Reason #10: (I learned this in camouflage training) People see what they expect to see, hear what they expect to hear. For example, if you self-identify as a member of "the other side of the ideological divide" you will be perceived as stupid/ungrateful/malicious/unmerciful/etc and anything you do or say will be so judged.

All of those misunderstandings can be remedied with calm thoughtful discussion except one, Number 6.

"The other person is strong-willed and rigid; has stringent, intransigent opinions; or isn’t able to “take in” any viewpoint other than their own. "

You are better off to leave them and shake the dust from your feet.
