These photos are not as graphic as the press coverage on CBS at the time. Although the North Vietnamese attacked in force throughout Vietnam and surprised the South, all gains they made were soon lost, and it was considered a major defeat for the North Vietnamese army.

Thanks for the Post Brother. I have several photos of my own from my 2 tours in Nam. All I can say is that in spite of whatever the media, the so called press, including Cronkite, whose press release of the Tet Offensive was full of crap, the fact is that the US Military in Nam never lost a major battle including Tet of 68.

Sgt David G Duchesneau Who is that good looking kid? Hahaha! You are so right, but the damage was done by Cronkite. My uncle was a Marine in Nam in the early to mid sixties.

SGT (Join to see) The damage that Walter Cronkite did by his account of the Tet Offensive , which was totally bullshit, he not only got all the War Demonstrators back in the US going against us who were fighting in Nam and he also gave hope to the North Vietnamese Army. Anyways, I could really get going on this but it would take too long to explain. All I say is that after Tet, the NVA knew that they lost the Offensive and that they were beaten back.

except for a few pictures it is entirely about Hue. Cities all over the country were attacked. The US Embassy, The Airport, Cholon, (Chinatown). I was long gone but my unit was surrounded at one end of Ton Son Nhut Airport. At least they could send out for Chinese

It was three years after the battle that I spent some time in Hue with the 101st Airborne SSG Edward Tilton. One of my photos from there show the Imperial Palace with the Vietnamese flag flying. Two years later I am at Fort Hood Texas and see the same image in the local paper, this time with the North Vietnamese flag flying over. I had to wonder for what did we waste all our lives and money on.

SSG Edward Tilton - I flew gunner a few times on the Shithooks Edward! My twin brother was medevacced out of country a few weeks before a Chinook with his whole platoon was shot down in 1971. In all probability he would have been on it as it was his platoon and company commander. We visited the commanders gravesite at West Point a few years ago. Be well.

I didn't like them, too many people in one place. I was amazed at the precision putting the guns and ammo in place

Two uncles fought in Vietnam...man the stories. One suffered from agent orange which had him bed ridden and in and out of the spital until his death a few years ago.

The same thing happened to my uncle almost exactly. Agent Orange made him a casualty.
