Let's wish Olive Oyl a happy birthday. She was born in 1919 and had her own comic strip until Popeye appeared in 1929 and usurped it. He was more popular. I will happily admit that I was a fan of Popeye cartoons and loved the movie with Robin Williams as Popeye and Shelly Duball as Olive Oyl.

It's heartening to see that someone as disfigured as Popeye could come to such popularity. I don't know what was up with those forearms compared to his upper arms but there was clearly some sort of genetic mutation at play.
