I was on USS Kearsarge CVS-33 at this time and most likely on Yankee Station in North Vietnam or at least in the Tonkin Gulf Yacht club area. News was always late getting to us back in the day, but I remember when that news reached us, it did cause some concern and discussion among the men on board as many of us had friends and family in country and were concerned a bombing halt would be used by North Vietnam to advance on the South and to use this bombing halt to launch more attacks on the 7th fleet in the Gulf.

I was on the USS Dubuque LPD-8 just off the Cua Viet River during the same time. We were doing amphib ops much of the time, and many of the crew and troops coming aboard for a couple of days R&R had many of the same concerns.

Myself, I was at Ft. Hood for my last 6 months of service. All of us there were following things very closely.
