At first reading I was thinking we as a society do not need this movie. But, then I was thinking about all the RP comments directed toward the POTUS where he is described as a Nazi. I think Americans need to see a movie like this just so they could learn what evil is and who participated in the destruction of it.

It would be interesting to know what angle the movie took. Was it a "comedy" or was it a serious film like Robin Williams' "Jakob The Liar." If it was meant as "comedy" then yeah, it can pretty much stay where it is. The Holocaust was not a laughing matter. As to the accuracy element, there is none. The children couldn't work and women for the most part couldn't work so all were killed together at the same time. There weren't (for the most part) packs of kids needing to be taken to the chambers. The only kids kept were for experiments.

As per my knowledge base, of course...

What I meant was, they were sent to the gas chambers at the moment of disembarking from the train. The famous photos of Mengele and others separating the lines of Jews exiting from the rail cars.

As to your other comment, if it wasn't humorous, I wonder why he didn't want it shown? Because William's "Jakob" did quite well and answered some questions folks had like "how did they keep their spirits up in places like that." Maybe its because he didn't do that good of a job as a director/producer?

I think it was conceived as a way to make fun of Hitler personally, but not sure how it turned out. Either way it would be very controversial

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Thanks for that. I'll have to bone up on that. The only ones I'm well read on are Dachau and Auschwitzt-Birkenau.

MSgt Danny Hope - He is the person that refused to release it and asked for it to be held by the LOC until after his death. I doubt he did so because Neo-NAZIs would be offended. It looks more like he held it because they would not be offended enough.
