NAACP Threatens NFL Boycott Over Colin Kaepernick

I don't get it. Mr.K opted out of the employment contract that he had with the 49ers. He placed himself in an open market where no one wanted his skills. It happens everyday in America.

IMV, the NAACP is irrelevant. If they want to boycott a league in which the players are some 70% African-American, have at it. Should use a small caliber weapon when shooting itself in the foot though - minimize the damage.

I'd suggest Colin Kaepernick consider following Tim Tebow into baseball ... but it probably wouldn't be a good fit. I can imagine the fans boiling out of the stands if he took a knee during our National Anthem before a baseball game.

Goodell is a coward. He had a chance to deal with this as the commissioner of the NFL when it started. He has allowed this to drag on and become an issue. His poor leadership has allowed the wound to fester and has actually allowed Kaipernick to crush his own career by not being a leader.

He should have come out unequivocally and stated that NFL players, when they are on the field of play, represent the league and we expect each player to respect the flag and the national anthem by standing up during the anthem. Players are employees of the league/team and need to follow the policies of the league/team or face disciplinary action. What issues players want to address or advocate for in their personal/free time is completely theirs to choose. On the field, they are employees and need to abide by the rules or face disciplinary actions up to and including termination of contracts.

Goodell has hurt the NFL with patriotic Americans and now the agitator class by being flaccid and weak, avoiding taking this on directly. The NFL is being poorly served by dear Roger.
