The Russian army (from a Swed with more experience with Ivan than me as Mohammad was my generations fight) is full of boots. They are a shitty third world tier try hard nation with a population of AIDS ridden alcoholic junkies and idiot ultranationalists. Although to be fair, NATO couldn't fight a war with itself.

If Russia starts a war utilizing "war games" as their cover within their own territory, it would be utterly amazing. I believe U.S. intelligence can tell the difference between a buildup for a real war and "war games".

The primary difference being the size of the countries involved. For Russia to mount a war would cause a major upswing in their readiness from what it currently is. The decline of the Russian military is very noticeable from what it was during the cold war. Russia is definitely a power in the world, but to become an active threat they would need to upscale operations.
