I was a life member of the DAV, but when I couldn't reach a local rep for two weeks and then called their st Petersburg office, waited on hold for almost 38 minutes before someone picked up the phone and hung up on me when I said "Hello?"... Well, I can't justify giving them another red cent. When I can get a better and more timely response from the VA, THROUGH THE MAIL, than a VSO, there's clearly a problem. That's not the best part. After this, I gave them the opportunity to fix the issue and prove that it was a one off. I got a phone call from from stuffed shirt with a fancy title that, from the tone of his voice and lack of concern, proved to me that vets matter as much to them as the wounded warrior project, so long as the money keeps rolling in. I put my money into animal rescues, local churches, and individual causes that arise where my money actually goes to wheat I intended it to, not some heartless suit so he can get a bonus when the daily toll goes higher than 22 a day.

SPC Fred Krauer - yeah I agree. But living in Nebraska we don't have these problems. Our SOs are members of different organizations but work for the State Veterans office. And our VA Regional Center is one of if not the best in the nation. Often taking on work from other Regional offices.

SFC Dave Beran - consider yourself blessed. You'd think that Florida, having the third highest concentration of vets, there would be more resources available here.

True, but there are many younger year people that do not know. But your point is well taken.
