Great to see all the citizens taking action. Is there a cultural difference? Meaning it seems Houston people and often floods in the midwest... They mobilize and rally around inner pride. Is it overall leadership? Is it an inner desire to be self dependent? What is the difference compared to other communities that seem to plunge into and stay in victim mode? Born, raised and currently live in Houston. The reason people are helping each other here, is becasue that is what we do....

In times of trouble, some look at how to help others, while some look at how to exploit the situation and help themselves. It's an inner characteristic that defines the type of citizen we are. I think many in the military or who have served have selfless service in their inner core.
Unfortunately, many politicians look at these disasters and say, "Don't let a crisis go to waste". They mean to exploit the crisis to obtain political power. Pathetic...
