LTC Relieved for questionable Awards
What I don't understand is how can one get away this. At what point do you put on a Ranger and Sapper Tab without someone knowing. Even better is how a person could have that on their OER.
I am glad he is relieved and hope he loses his full time job in the National Guard at Fort Benning.

It has been confirmed that he did not earn the Ranger or Sapper Tabs. I have found out through some other sources that now his medals are in question as some also appear to be fake. He was also busted out by members in his own unit. They have a MAJ and a company of Rangers that run the Ranger Training and Assessment Course. I am sure that is where the challenge came from.

Amazing what some will try to get away with. To bad he felt so low of himself that he had to make things up.

Not the first or the last to have managed to fake it. A few years ago a nurse in my unit that was very respected was found to have faked several awards and badges. He had a whole web of stories he would tell about his exploits and accomplishments to backup his credentials. Somehow he even had them on his ORB. Probably due to older paperwork based bureaucratic systems with few checks and balances.
Either way the truth eventually catches up. Senator John Walsh comes to mind in terms of faking it. Not to diminish his service, but plagiarism is just another form of deception. Politicians, officers, NCOs, etc... Without a strong character and impervious ethics many fall for the easy claims of unearned and hard to verify accomplishments.

Lies are hard to maintain. More importantly, Soldiers like this are at a minimum unethical and potentially pathological or have other mental issues. Not the kind of person I want in my foxhole (if I had to still get into foxholes).

Adding things to your OER is easy any S1 can do it. If an O5 says his Ranger tab isn't on his OER anymore for some reason, you put it "back" on.

Well, I had to provide supporting documents for any of my permanent updates. Wonder if he got asked to provide them.
