There is nothing to worry about or get excited about. If we just put the fine young general in a room alone with Mattis for an hour or so. What ever makes it out will be certified.

While I can share your emotional reaction, the UCMJ is very clear about "Conduct Unbecoming of a Officer" which this O8 is clearly in violation. So the system will run it's course and because of the publicity and high profile of the errant officer...he will get his due...based on the letter of the law.

Now to the larger issue at hand. It goes to the heart of the concept of "good order and discipline" of the military. This case and your publicised reaction is a good example of what happens when senior leaders behave badly and how it impacts the troops service wide. While you were relatively tame in your remarks, if you are still on active duty, they could be interpreted to potential disrespect of the "officers appointed over you." They could also adversely impact others because words have meaning and consequences. I am not trying to put a chill on your right to free speech but I am also sensitive to keeping unit cohesion and effectiveness high.

Ahd keep in mind...I was thinking and feeling the same way that you are. But I have an out, that you may not have, as a retired "old fart" officer, I can get away with calling this GO a disgraceful example of pervert in uniform. I have not troops to lead anymore nor any "superior officers" to report to...so my opinions are just my opinions. BUT as a repentant heathen, I have my far share of sins to atone for but for the grace of Christ I have an advocate on my day of atonement. Do you?
