No, you and others wouldn't be taking about it had the congressman not made it a hate trump politic issue.

To not call was good advice, but Trump boxed himself in by claiming it was his policy to call them all, in order to make himself look better than Obama. He created this mess.....needlessly.

Cpl Mark McMiller - I was referring to the news conference that was prior to his call to any of the family members......when he was asked why he hadn't mentioned the soldiers killed in Niger. He responded by claiming that Obama didn't call family members, he just sent letters.......but he, Trump, called all of them and sent letters. After saying that, and being called on it by the press and several people who served under Obama, he had in effect boxed himself in and had to make the calls, in spite of the advice he got from Kelly. The congresswoman wasn't in the picture at all when Trump started all this at the news conference.......she came later, after his call to the Johnson family.

SSgt Gary Andrews - Okay, thanks. I didn't know he made that comment before the phone call to the widow. And I agree he probably should not have made that comment whether it was accurate or not.

I do agree that the congresswoman should not have made the call public information......but Trump went down that road all on his own and left himself open to it.

Needlessly? I think him taking on this duty speaks well of him. Not a fan but all this endless political crap on anything he does has me sometimes defending him.

Simply put the big chewing point seems to be that he noted that the trooper knew he was taking a chance when he enlisted. I think any of us who did knew that and even more that more of us got killed in training then in actual combat over the years.

That this all became yet another point of contention for a media & political party that has nothing else to do. God knows this does NOT make me despise our ruling class of fools any less and it most assuredly drives me ever further from voting for anyone the media actually likes.
