All are tragic, but I can't help wonder why these shootings get the focus of politicians and the media. If you add up all 11 massacres, it is still 23 victims short of what Baltimore had last year alone. These 11 are anomalies, but annual murder rates, in our major cities, are not. Baltimore will have about the same number next year. Chicago will have over double that number. I get that the magnitude of an individual incident is news worthy, but if we want to prevent murders and save lives, I think we are looking in the wrong direction.
