All detainees held at the U.S. military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, are at least unlawful combatants and could have lawfully been shot dead on the battlefield. I see no reason to trust that they would not try to murder a courtroom attendee, especially since at least one of them, Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, was video taped beheading American journalist Daniel Pearl.
