So after all the kerfluffle about what happened, who called whom and said what, we get the truth... This soldier fought in the highest tradition of his brothers and sisters in arms. RIP and farewell Soldier!

All of those on this site that accepted the fake news about him being captured alive and tortured should be stopping by to apologize for jumping to conclusions before the investigation was over or showing up to call the Army investigators liars.
The real harm done with the fake stories of capture and torture were to the family of this soldier, who by all accounts, conducted himself well on that day. Instead they had to listen to stories about his possible demise being far more brutal and painful than it needed to be.

Perhaps they should start teaching STRATCOM again because the confusion stemmed from the inability of the Defense Dept. to answer a simple question, piece-mealing details, leaving the family in the dark, and allowing media sources to speculate. Have we forgotten they failed to let the widow see her husband one more time before burial and the poor response by military spokespersons just open the door for more speculation by online conspiracy bloggers.

MAJ James Woods At some point one would think we would learn that in rushing into anything like this leads to more problems than it solves. Most times taking the time do it right is the best way, especially in cases like this where a soldier died valiantly!

LT Brad McInnis - One word, "Benghazi". We all should've learned our lessons from jumping to conclusions and launching into radical conspiracies. Bad initial messaging by authorities will always lead to false speculations.
