Sounds like a tremendous deal for veterans. Don't recall the press or media talking about this or hyping it in any way at all. Strange indeed.

Probably because a) it actually predates his administration and b) it was funded by making cuts to the veterans' housing stipends. So, it really wasn't his initiative, and it wasn't an expansion of overall benefits (it was a restructuring of existing benefits). In fact, the CBO scored the bill as actually saving money over time.
Is it more efficient and effective for veterans? Time will tell. At this point, it looks like an improvement.

With all due respect, LTC, it's impossible for the legislation to "pre-date" President Trump's administration if he actually signed the bill into law. If it "pre-dated" him it would have already been law. It was not. If President Trump had not signed the bill it would not have become law. The law is a win/win. Does it really matter so much who signed the bill?
