One of the hardest things for a modest human being to do- accept yourself. We are our own worst critics. Beautiful when you realize the only people you need to impress in the world are those closest to you- and they most likely are already impressed with you. I think we all have much to be proud of when we look in the mirror. Many of us are Junior NCO's, NCO's or Officers and we all have learned to manage troops in our care, evaluate their performance and accomplish goals. Who wouldn't be proud of that!

To function properly in the military you have to sand of the top veneers of civility. The outer layers that let you cope with the insanity of society. Before the Viet Nam War, the men returning home were given decompression time and support for 'painting' that veneer that lets you cope with all the duality of civilian life. I recommend a rescue pet. She worked very well for me.
