Once again, California leads the way. This time our fearless leaders in Sacramento have devised the answer to the state's housing crisis. Simply abandon all zoning laws so long as people are willing to live in squalor alongside rapid transit lines. Of course, they'll also have to remove all restrictions on commercial and industrial zoning so that people who live next to mass transit have someplace to go on that transit to work and shop

We have very few zoning laws here in Houston, and it is generally a disaster. For example, in the last 6 months, there have been 2 different high rise condo buildings that were suing the business next door. In both cases, the businesses next door were nightclubs that had blasting music at night to the point the families in the buildings couldn't sleep. Some even left during the weekend. Of course, the city said there was nothing they could do because there are not zoning laws against this... The people in the condos that wanted to sell, couldn't because the story was plastered all over the news, no one wanted to buy...
