The "Doomsday Clock," a hypothetical timepiece that measures humanity's proximity to destruction by our own actions, hovers perilously close to midnight, the time that denotes global Armageddon.

Today (Jan. 25), the clock has crept even closer to the zero hour. This morning, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BAS) — an organization of science and policy experts who assess human scientific advancement and risk — revealed the clock's new "time," with the hands now standing at 2 minutes to midnight. The clock has always been a few minutes from midnight - no surprises here.

It's only been this high from the Korean War Until 1960. Bit of an imagination to think that the world is more dangerous now than during the vast majority of the Cold War.

Let me know when the missiles leave the tubes. Until then it is all hypothesis and hype. People have been predicting doomsday since the dawn of time.

agreed, yet it is the fearless persona in bluster which makes the event a greater likelihood than that of the past 15 years. Someone needs to tell these... that without fear there is not courage, without fear there is not caution, without fear there are only fools

That is bovine stool. The reason we are on the precipice with NK (Which seems to be what you are alluding to) is due to poor and weak negotiation and leadership with a tyrant by previous administrations. We are staring at a nuclear NK because of weakness and appeasement not because of courage and steadfastness.
Our side is not pushing nuclear war, the NK's are pushing that. They are launching missiles, testing nukes and rattling sabers. You cannot lead from a fear based position. That doesn't mean you are fool hearty but if you are so afraid of the foe you are unwilling to push back or stand up, you are already beaten.
