A1C Ian Williams - Finding people that can not be trusted to do that pushing is a good start.

Of that we are in agreement 1stSgt Nelson Kerr People enter into the service from many different points in their life. it is the JOB of the Armed services to take what they have and mold it into something better. Gradually you put more resources from one person to another as they show responsibility and respect for the job. Show me a serviceman and I'll show you a person who somewhere deep down inside wants to be better but just doesn't know how yet. COL Mikel J. This behavior is so detrimental to espirit de corps and unit cohesion. I hope the punishment was appropriate to the behavior regardless of rank. Sometimes that doesn't happen.

Our armed services (just as our government) reflects the mores and ethics of our society at large. If our society is truly as abased as it appears most of the time, we really need to take stock of what we value as a people. Since this must trancend religious differences (due to the many different faiths in the US) we need to reinforce the "civil" religion that applies to all citizens. I grew up in a completely different USA than we have now. It may not be useful to everyone but my guide has always been the same as West Point. DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY.

Good. Hopefully the punishment truly reflected the severity of the actions of the individual; otherwise, the Corps could have easily swept this all under the rug with non-judicial punishments and administrative reviews. Thankfully they are setting the example.
