The eastern orthodox church celebrates Easter or more precisely Pascha on Sunday, April 8
It is probably the most known and beautiful Orthodox Christian hymn. It is sung at the Feast of Feasts - the Holy Pascha (Easter) that's the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Fifth Sunday of Pascha is observed by the Orthodox Church as the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman. The day commemorates the encounter of Christ with the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. The biblical story of this event and the dialog between Christ and the woman is found in the Gospel of Saint John 4:5-42
Background: The English word "Easter" is not a biblical word. It is thought to be a translation of the name of the Anglo-Saxon spring goddess, "Eostre". In any case, it is an English word which is used today to translate the Greek term 'Pascha', which translates the Hebrew term for 'Passover'. The Christian Church transformed the Jewish Passover, which commemorated the freeing of the Hebrew people from Egyptian bondage into a feast which commemorated the death and resurrection of Christ which freed humanity from the bondage of death, sin and evil.
