The first hint would be a SSG wearing his cover indoors and not correctly. Second would be the American flag on the wrong shoulder, I hope he gets his beat very quickly. This should be a qual for Stolen Valor as well added to his sentence.

One would think in a state where there is a Army base not that far away they would recognize the messed up (faked) uniform.
And the last time I checked the non-subdued issue flags had a Gold border.
But then I suppose I expect too much from civilians in a liberal state.

COL William Oseles - Sir I have found that if someone is not in uniform they rarely know the regs, If this fool came across someone that new he was phony he would have been eaten alive.

I live in the state of Washington, they don't even know how, to check a military id.

1SG Dennis Hicks - Agreed, but they would be quick to blame the military if he had not been a fool and outed himself. That is why I am disappointed with a lot of civilians.
