Why the hell are there even grenades on a destroyer? No one's going to toss a grenade inside of a ship, and there aren't any Marines on them.

They are concussion Grenades you toss them in the water to deal with hostile divers, or in confined spaces to deal with people. Most sailors will never hold or throw one for any reason. Only a few on the ships are trained in their use but they are there. The only they did remove from the ships was the Shotgun, or at least on the small boys. They were to much ion a narrow corridor. Sure your going to get your guy but also anyone else in it.
