Just today I had actually watched a program on TV about an event between Japan's Navel Forces and the United States Navy concerning Midway which did change the balance of sea power. The diversion attempts by the Japanese which due to US code breaking were figured out and assisted greatly by not luring the US Navy away from the actual area to be attacked by Japan. At Midway the Japanese lost 4 carriers. In the Coral Sea, again deception was tried and the Japanese attempted to lure US ships Northward and neither side was certain where the other were located or the strengths they were facing. In this and some other events circumstances did shift to the favor of the United States. Todays technology Would make it harder to hide from the enemy but it worked at that time to a degree.
