The Army "students" who were tops in the SSC were old hands, previously trained in the Army course. Not to detract from their accomplishment, but it's like putting college grads in with high school students. One expects a higher level of skill.

CPO (Join to see) - I'm wondering if they came in "first in their class" in the Army sniper course as well.
BTW -- I was once told the Army sniper school received no recognition at all -- not even an ASI on the troop's MOS. I hope that has been corrected.

No they aren’t. They are recent army sniper grads.

SFC (Join to see) - Relatively speaking, they were "old hands" compared to the neophytes they competed against.

Marines overall best marksmanship across all branches. The NC Guard had great rifle and pistol teams. I shot on the pistol team and about half our shooters were prior service Marines.

For a branch that barely actually deploys men on the ground and is only 22% combat arms. Great job wasting that time and money.

Army and NG have always had strong shooting teams, all the way to Camp Perry.
