Excellent post. The most successful people think long term and can delay gratification. This is the opposite of the messages from today's society and the media.

Yes, maám, Lt Col Charlie Brown This is one of life's lessons that my parents tried to install in my view on how to accept life on its term and go with the current of progress especially with the waters surge against you. I luckily had great mentors in my base's Major Sileno and Captain Gomes who took the time to inspire me to keep moving forward in a long and fruitful career in the military.

Right on, Lt. Col. Charlie Brown. Not only most successful people but most of us "older generation" realize that "All things come to those who wait". Sadly, today's younger generation has been "brain washed" to expect instant gratification: Instant money (ATM's); instant messaging; instant exam/score results; instant food (fast food places); instant admission to anything without waiting; etc. Everything has to be done in a hurry (one cause of road rage) resulting in lack of patience. They are missing out on so much because they do not heed the old adage: "Stop and smell the roses".
