Very well written piece. I really can't think of anything to add to it. He really nails it regarding civilian concealed carry folks being some of the most peaceful and law abiding citizens.

I would agree, except for the part about 'Civilians who received their license to carry concealed ...' In my state nobody has to obtain a special 'license' to exercise what's been our Constitutional right for well over 200 years, and we're about as peaceful as it gets.

CDR Dan Cunningham, it was not my intention leave out states with Constitutional carry, I general believe that is implied when mention in concealed carry.

Yes, good piece. I think the one we need to hit home is the part that the police are not there to protect individual citizens They are there for the greater good, and there is no law that says they have to enter anywhere that shooting is going on. If you are getting shot, they have no legal requirement to enter the fray. Only you, the private citizen has the requirement to protect yourself

It's even more of a case that "Your safety is your problem, not that of the police". Here's a case where a police officer fired two volleys into his estranged wife -- in front of fellow police officers, who "negotiated" with him. Despite the delay of any medical assistance, the woman was still alive when she finally was taken to the hospital, but soon died there.
It was determined that while police were authorized to use deadly force in a number of situations, they had absolutely no obligation to use deadly force in any circumstance -- not even to save innocent life.
