I think we owe those men a special debt of gratitude, LTC (Join to see). As Steward said, "We had to be better because we were looked at harder. The odds were stacked against us. Some people wanted us to fail."
They are such a special group of military men because they served, with honor and distinction, despite the state of race relations in our country and our military at the time they served. They were the equivalent of Jackie Robinson in major league baseball ... forging the way for generations that followed.

This is a very sad day! I talked to the HQ of the Tuskegee Airman more than once and it is truly a moment for grieving.
