We got to shoot all the Warsaw pact weapons in Germany for weapons proficence

There was a range near the Gunpowder River in Maryland where I got the chance to shoot the gun of my dreams, a Holland and Holland .400 Nitro Express. I had to pay $25 for the round that I fired (it's cost in 1962) and I qualified by tipping the scales at the minimum required weight (I think it was 12 stone) The gun's owner loaned me his shooting jacket with the heavily padded shoulder and I had at it. A year at Infantry School beginning in 1966 allowed me to shoot everything else I could have wanted to fire.
