I can't wait for the Left and their shills in the media to jump all over the President on this issue. "Oh the horror," they'll proclaim, "the President hates trees". California lawmakers (largely aided and abetted by federal bureaucrats) have been legislating and regulating driven by virtual signalling rather than common sense or scientific rationality. We have forests close to where I live that are as explosive as hand grenades with the pins already pulled. Bettles have infested sick pine trees and bored holes that allow air to quickly fan any flames that reach them. We have old growth trees shading vast acres of underbrush that act as tinder. New growth trees that might be resilient are crowded out. We have developers building houses on ridgelines in national forests, charging premium prices for premium views. Then we spend vast fortunes in futile attempts to protect these homes from fires that climb hillsides (any sane person knows that you stay off the high ground during wild fires because fire burns up). So, President Trump is absolutely correct but that matters not. He'll be vilified...

Your assertion is extremely light on detail and really heavy on buckshot. Care to offer some supportable detail? Is it your assertion that the Republicans (the clear minority in California state politics for decades) are driving the the state's environmental policy? Can you point to a single case at any level of state or local government where Republican votes were needed to get the environmental legislation passed? Or where Republican initiatives created the conditions that are contributing to wildfires or watershed issues impacting the situation?

Nope.....the GOP is weak in California and have little to no impact on state policies. But on the national scene.....they hold all the power presently......and global warming is fake news to them, so little to nothing is being done about it on the national front. Fyi....California isn't the only state that deals with fires. My statement was a general one......buckshot, as you stated.

SSgt Gary Andrews - I don't think wildfires are a Democrat or Republican caused issue. Sometimes a force of nature is just a force of nature. Next thing we'll be blaming earthquakes on whatever party we don't like.
Here is a fact, neither Republicans want to destroy the Earth, or return us to a pre-industrial low-technology world. We all want the same thing. We just disagree how to get there.

For starters, the only state that proudly proclaims they should leave the union is Texas, not California. It’s easy to say and outright offensive to knock environmental policies when you’re the one in the chair who has the power to change that policy. But it’s not like you’re about changing it [policy] when you appointed an administrator who was only in it for himself and who really wanted to be Attorney General.

What we rarely see from the President in a crisis event is actual leadership and problem solving. Its always finger pointing and blame, turning the problem into a political issue and statement. Obviously he has a beef with Gov. Brown, and a strong dislike for California state leadership because the majority is the opposition party. So his "tweet" was more about throwing shade on Democrats for environmental regulations than providing support and leadership for Californians coping with a natural disaster.
