Irony is we are all a product of immigration except the Native Americans.

1. Immigrants certainly change America when the influx is large enough that second and third generations are at best marginally assimilated. Failure to substantially assimilate after multiple generations leads to impermeable ethnic enclaves, and entire communities feeling they are denied opportunity and disenfranchised. When that happens, yes America is changed for the worse. The culprit is not the immigrant; it is the illegal immigrant, the culprit's accomplices are a legislative branch that refuses to develop a cohesive rational immigration policy and an executive branch that has the political will to enforce the law.

2. Americans don't like change. If we did, we would elect legislators and executives that affected change.

3. For the bulk of America, the consent was not explicit consent. It was apathy, which is to some degree consent.

_We need a wall
_We need vigorous prosecution and draconian punishment of those transport, expedite, shelter, employ, or otherwise aid and abet illegal immigrants
_We need vigorous prosecution of those who intentionally cross the border illegally or overstay their visas; with extremely stiff penalties for repeat offenders.
_We need to withhold foreign aid to Mexico when it allows Central Americans to transit Mexico unhindered on the trip North.

I am the son of a Legal Mexican immigrant mother , who became a naturalized citizen and a whitebread American Irish mutt father whose ancestors left Ireland in the 1860's. Now go ahead tell me I am a xenophobe and a racist. I am not buying the race card you threw down. Its nonsense at best and, in my opinion, more accurately an attempt to shame people into silence. My mother left Mexico, not because America was a land of opportunity, but because Mexico as a place where there was no respect for the law of the land. That is precisely what the culture we are developing here. If you will follow our laws, welcome. If not, go home, we have enough homegrown scofflaws.
