Some of us were screwed over. I originally was under the Vietnam GI Bill, they back dated it after I'd been in almost a year and had used it. Offered me I think the Montgomery GI Bill, for $100.00 a month. I was maybe an E-2 with a car payment, and couldn't afford that much a month. Next one offered I was a frocked E-4 with a baby and wife and dang sure couldn't afford it then. So I have no GI Bill. So I wouldn't say it was earned if you had to pay for it.

Think too many are getting brainwashed. Like Social Security, the GI Bill is a benefit that you earn during your time working in the military. It is NOT welfare no matter what you hear.
