In a remarkable turnabout from the confirmation hearings earlier this month in which he presented himself as the model of neutrality, Kavanaugh fumed that the sexual assault allegations brought against him in recent days had been a “calculated and orchestrated political hit, fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election.” He called it “revenge on behalf of the Clintons” and pointed to “millions of dollars in money from outside left-wing opposition groups.”

MSG Stan Hutchison - The investigation could have been handled in a confidential manner. Happens all the time. Grassley made that point. Nobody needed to know Ford was involved, or are you saying the government can’t conduct a confidential investigation? It was either Ford, her lawyers, or the Democrats that leaked it so Ford’s trust was misplaced anyway if Ford didn’t leak it. The Democrats were the only ones who knew about it.

Two other points; if the Senate (Grassley) investigated, the results would have been inconclusive and/or ignored, and, when has anything the Senate done been kept confidential? The public would have known about even sooner.
I admit this has been a fiasco right from the beginning. I have no doubt part of it was the Dems wanting payback for Merrick Garland. The Repubs wanted to push a super-conservative through to the Court. Both sides put their politics ahead of the good of the nation,, nothing new there.

MSG Stan Hutchison - so what makes you think the current investigation will produce anything? It may but I have my doubts. I keep thinking of the Duke Lacrosse case and the Rolling Stone Case.
