I'd like to start a discussion on futuristic weapons. I don't have much time to muse though, I work a lot. I'm interested in Railgun testing and technology both in the Army and Navy. I'd also like to discuss New Russian weapons such as their hypersonic torpedoes and new T-14 tank. I'd also like discussing weird weapons like the rumored Chinese underwater bombs in the pacific that supposedly can generate a tidal wave.

I heard on the news a few days ago that the Russians have new hyper-sonic ICBM's. I heard they travel at about 7000 MPH or Mach 5. They are supposedly faster than our defenses. It really hacks me off that the Russians are coming out with a lot of great new weaponry and our equipment just keeps aging. What isn't aging, like the F-35 doesn't work very well and is built to be everything for all branches of service and ends up not being a good fit for any of them. I maybe a little out of step in saying that but I also read that the Taiwanese air force is dumping the F-35's for F-16F's. Is this more evidence there is something wrong? I wish our defense contractors and government would work harder at building robust, durable, uncomplicated equipment. I also read that the Pentagon failed it's first ever audit by the Government Accounting Office (GAO) because the Pentagon cannot locate something like 21 trillion dollars. I'm just going from memory. It was a large number. Really, that's enough to purchase an entire country and you can't find it? You could probably buy an aircraft carrier for that much money.
