The "silver lining on the cloud"? I'll buy that if you'll forgive me for wishing that journalists would perform that function rather than having an idiot voting in Congress...

CPT Jack Durish It took five minutes to get right into the name-calling. So, congrats on being #1!

But, would you care to support your assertion that she is "an idiot" with some evidence? Maybe some compare and contrast with people you don't think are idiots? Other politicians that aren't idiots maybe?

To be frank, we've dealt with two years of middle-school name calling. Can we just be done with it already?

MAJ Bryan Zeski - Do I get a trophy? Pray tell me you haven't missed the news, have you?. Ocasio is the one elected to Congress who couldn't name the three Branches of government. Who thought she was going to Washington to be inaugurated. Who has been caught in lies about her background. Who... "Idiot" is just another word for "ignorant". Not stupid. Obviously, she has some native intelligence and cunning (lots of cunning). Ignorance is simply the absence of knowledge. It implies nothing about the ability to acquire knowledge. Sadly, she is a product of the modern educational system in America that is more about indoctrination than education. Now take your insults and shove them...

CPT Jack Durish - The right-wing has demonstrated for the last two years that it doesn't care if their leaders are immoral and dishonest to the nth degree. Why in the world would they want to start caring now? Heck, I'd much rather have an honest ignorant person in office than a dishonest stable genius. The ignorant person can learn. The dishonest person will just be dishonest.

Also, I disagree with your assertion that "idiot" and "ignorant" are synonymous. One is a reference to stupidity, the other a reference to having knowledge. They aren't the same.

The irony of you telling me to shove my insults is hysterical. Did I insult you in some way - except by pointing out your own inability to go five minutes without dishing them out?

MAJ Bryan Zeski - That I would have to explain your insults to you would be insulting. I'll rather assume that you are simply attempting to be amusing. And your new rant, completely separate from your original posting is a classic strawman argument (propaganda) not worthy of a response. So, have yourself a wonderful day and a Happy New Year.

Right, here is my prediction. She will be reigned in by Pelosi and others. They might let her yip and yap around but she will get in line and watch herself or the democrat machine will make it very hard on her. Is this your new hero Bryan? The bar is pretty low these days.

If you need any proof of her abject lack of knowledge and real world experience let me suggest youtube to you. She has zero real world experience, has no idea how government works, what the roles and functions are etc. She is just another vote that will be case to support the progressive agenda of Pelosi and the house democrats.

Who is paying her interns $15.00 an hour? She doesn't have any money to do so, must be more taxpayers money. One thing for sure, democrats love to spend tax payers money and they act like they have made some sort of sacrifice.

MAJ Bryan Zeski - Interns, almost by definition, have been unpaid in Congress. The experience they gain is far outweighed by he $15 per hours she is asking us to now pay them. Another case of a leftist using the treasury to make themselves feel better. Another case of virtue signaling with no cost to her.

She isn't revealing the inner working of anything Bryan, She is only being sworn in today. She has no real knowledge of any of the inner workings just yet.

Is she your congress critter? Are you from that district? If not, she is not your congress person.

Yes she talks very nice and says incredibly stupid things. The only person not getting paid in DC for their time is, you guessed it, the guy you hate worse than anyone, Donald Trump. He put his money where his mouth is. Let's see how much of her check she donates away. I am betting close to zero.

Cpl Jeff N. Why does no one understand that by making inyerships unpaid, we've essentially made them available only to already wealthy or otherwise supported individuals - which isn't the "working class". We're just perpetuating the cycle of the rich being the ones with the inside track to power. That's a garbage system.

No, I'm not from NY. But, I do recognize character and integrity when I see it and am happy to support it.

Sure, an always wealthy trust fund baby can donate more to his own charities than others. Does that impress me? Not in the least. What's $400k to a multibillionaire? Chump change.

She's probably the poorest Congressperson we have. She's likely come from one of the most humble beginnings. She didn't have a billionaire father dumping millions into her accounts from the time she was born.

Let's keep track of who says the dumbest things over the next few years - I bet it isn't her.

I think that, even if she isnt my Congressperson, she'll still provide valuable insight into Congress.

Perhaps the saddest line I have ever read on RP

"No, I'm not from NY. But, I do recognize character and integrity when I see it and am happy to support it."

Being poor is not a virtue, neither is being rich. For some reason you seem to think her more common upbringing makes her more qualified. It does not. Of course, she lies a bit about her upbringing. She was born in Brooklyn but grew up in a pretty well to do suburb so all that glitters is not gold. She tries to sell herself as Alex from Brooklyn. That is more sizzle than substance.

Cpl Jeff N. - Being poor is not a virtue - nor is rich, we agree. Oddly enough, I didn't say that. I said I recognize character and integrity. And how come you think she's lying about where she's from but you can't see the massive lies coming regularly from the top of the Executive Branch?

But, hey, I'll bite - call out a lie she's made and source the truth.

I never said her upbringing made her more qualified - I said it gives her an insight into the working class that most of the other elected officials do not have.
