SSG Lon Watson - I don’t know about dying, but they shouldn’t be allowed in ground combat units, they shouldn’t be allowed aboard submarines or combat surface ships, and/or in attack aircraft squadrons. They should be required to register when they are 18 years old for the Selective Service Boards. And if that’s not enough, I’m certain I can think of some other bad marriages. MAJ (Join to see), that go far enough or too far? Been wanting this off my chest for a long time.

I personally don't think it's a good idea. But if I say that out loud I get blasted from every angle. And my reasons, even though they're backed by science, seem to not matter. I do think the new ACFT that's supposedly coming out soon is designed with this in mind, which is good.

OK Cpt I have your 6 and will say it. It's a horrible idea and takes qualified slots away, a huge training distraction and creates animosity between the genders. Ask the Ranger students if the standards are the same; peer evals, recycle policy, patrol grades and see if there's a difference. SFAS just advanced the 1st female but cadre are quietly voicing their opinions with fear of averse payback from SWTG.

I retired a while ago so I can say what ever I want without fear of career damage. So here goes. I would like my daughters and granddaughters to be able to do anything they want to do and can do, but really tough, seriously physically demanding, combat maneuvering is one thing they can never do.
For example: after evading the enemy for a couple days, a friend of mine carried a wounded team member for several hours to make it to the pick up point with the enemy in pursuit. They got out. I do not believe a woman could do that. (OK, maybe 1 out of a million women could do it.). Dropping the standards so that someone, anyone, for any reason, like gender, can get in the unit is wrong.
