I think this is quite an appropriate quote and question that we should answer today. "Rep. William Drayton of South Carolina asked in 1828, “If Congress can determine what constitutes the general welfare and can appropriate money for its advancement, where is the limitation to carrying into execution whatever can be effected by money?”

Thank you SGT Kevin Berman for sharing the perspective form Walter E. Williams Plunder: An American Way of Life. The title sounds like a tale from the days when pirates roamed the seas whereas now many pirates are landlubbers.
1. Eminent domain sounds innocuous as governments exercise taking clauses to deprive landowners and homeowners of their homes.
2. By statute the Federal government uses current dollars to pay out social security and Medicare for that matter to those eligible. Yes tax dollars are used to fund Federal medicare and social security and state tax dollars largely fund Medicaid and both fund food stamps.
3. Fiscal conservatives look at taxes as a revenue stream that belongs to the tax payers and what is not obligated should be returned to the taxpayers. Liberal politicians tend to view the tax revenue as akin to a taking [eminent domain] that belongs to the Federal Government and should be used else funding will be reduced in the following year budget negotiations.
