I use SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 500GB) and it works fine. Disadvantage is that unlike HDD a SSD gives no warning signs before failure, so it's best to backup with external. No periodic optimization required for SSD either. Using Samsung's estimate on failure vs. usage the drive will likely outlast me.

This is a good find. I had not heard of this backBlaze organization. Has anyone else heard of it? What is the quality? The reason I ask is that I just bought a new HD that I use in a external HD case.
