As FYI, only because it is in your description but not in your survey. The Army Recruiting Command does not target urban vs suburban areas for recruiting. There are a lot of teachers that think that but it's roughly akin to redlining and the military would avoid that practice as it is illegal. They do their market analysis just like any large marketing organization such as General Motors would do. In that they use a GIS Map system to determine where the high schools are and where they are more than likely to snag recruits and they routinely close or open recruiting stations to be in the center of those areas. They would never open more recruiting stations in a economically depressed area as compared to a well to do area and if you look on a map at the dispersion of recruiting stations and recruiting batallions they are pretty well spaced. What ends up happening though is people have more of a propensity to volunteer in some areas vs others based on what they were taught in school by their teachers or taught at home via their parents. So recruiting results are in effect partly idealogically driven based on upbringing. Even with the imbalances across the board they get a really good cross section of America into the Army regardless of income, race, ethnicity or where they live. So whatever they do to balance out the imbalances works fairly well.

I understand that 100% spc. Im trying to disprove the idea that many civilians have, that the army recruits in lower income neighborhoods. I am proving that we all come from a diverse background, all with one purpose, to serve our country

SPC (Join to see) - Yes and it is something you will see once your in the Army that the guy next to you can be from a wealthy or upper middle class family while the other guy is from a city core. However, your going to have a hard time convincing people outside the Army this that grew up during a period of the Draft or that have been influenced in other ways via years and years of hearing otherwise. Good Luck.

SPC Erich Guenther Thank you very much. Best part about it is that I will be presenting to a group of my peers, so I will at least help some people my age shead that idea. I really appreciate the input you gave me. God bless

Might get a greater outcome if you provide slightly more detail of the broad statement “Army Recruiting” as it relates to your project and how. Ex., it’s purpose, what you hope to obtain, proposed outcome, etc. All the best and thank you in advance for your service young man!

SPC (Join to see) I will pass along to a few, requesting they do the same for your High School Questionnaire. Once again, all the best when you go through Basic young man - it’s the best decision most all of us have ever done...

Folks, young Kevin is performing a project questionnaire for HS. If you could please pass around for widest dissemination possible so he has some reasonable results, that would be optimal!

The Questionnaire literally takes less than 2 minutes tops and that is with effort/thought applied!
