Agree with a but. It is difficult to get the right business field specific jargon to convert to. you are potentially retooling resumes/CVs between industries. You are also working hard balancing the resume re-tooling with ground truth as opposed to the "truth". https://youtu.be/-Nc88_ZEfxg
There is also the understanding of what is "close enough" between what the military does and what the civilian sector does with a similar thing. I got cold called from a recruiter to interview for something I thought I didn't have a chance at.

SSG Robert Webster - it was a big tech company that I had never even considered any position in, nevermind submitted a resume to. They found me on LinkedIn. They were trying to recruit me for supply chain expertise and potentially teach me the tech skills. I'm being ambiguous because my candidacy is still open. I had been cold called on others but they were things I had no interest in doing. One was an outright scam. It wasn't a pyramid, but think it was a very narrow trapezoid.
As to your first observation, my comment was not as to surprise in retooling resumes between industries, but to the challenge of getting the right mix of actual skill/experience and industry specific related language without writing a check my butt cant cash. Yes agree, machine vetting of candidate pools has contributed to this, but seeing a HR department still wrestling with Y1K problems, they are gatekeeping for highly technical positions they themselves don't understand, they often yell "Ole!" And let all the resumes hit the hiring authority. Dealt with this on the civilian side. I may have also benefited from it. I once recruited for a construction/engineering position that we had to take 70+ candidates and do a screening panel just to physically interview 6-7. That was after my boss killed about 20-30 outright because they didn't meet threshold for consideration.

There are a number of good books on this topic and now some resume "translators" out there. Yes it is tough but worth it to get as close to civilian speak as you can. And it isn't enough to do it on your resume; be prepared to do it in the interview as well. A quick summary of your military work and the civilian equivalent ready to go.
