An interesting idea from the POTUS. We are using machine learning to detect a lot of likely behaviors, can we not also use it to detect likely shooters?
I believe the answer is yes, but the difficulty will come in the "what do we do about it?" question without going into a Minority Report type situation. After all, we will be dealing with people who have not actually done anything wrong but only *may* do something. The devil will definately be in the details.

Interesting idea but without using protected data which brings up constitutional issues I dont think it would be effective because the protected data is likely to be the most rich source of relevant data.

SFC Melvin Brandenburg If it is based on social media profiles and activity they may be OK as there is no protected data there. In the US, anything we put on social media sites is likely no longer protected in any real sense.
