With respect. If free health care in Canada is so great, why do so many Canadians come to the US for advanced life saving care?

Depends on the situation. I know the hip replacement surgeries are way backlogged here and those with money go to the USA to get it done sooner. 4 years ago, my wife had an aneurysm and she had top-notch Medical Care done immediately. The University of Alberta is like the University of Southern California. Are Medical Center is awesome even for a place like this. Within 15 hours of her aneurysm, she had surgery done with a piece of her skull removed a mini roach clip put in place to stop the breach. She then spent three weeks the Intensive Care Unit where they use experimental anti spasm medications that they were able to drip through a small tube put on top of my wife skull. They slowly raised her over the course of three weeks to make sure her brain fluid levels were raised back slowly. Her tried paid for the ambulance bill. Other than that, it was all included in the Alberta Health Care with this local taxes. Alberta has one of the lower tax rates in Canada due to their oil wealth. Yes, Canada may have an inconsistent Medical Care but we we don't have the same constraints as the USA. Bernie Sanders was here two weeks ago to show how medicines were a fraction of the cost compared to the USA. We can get it done if we could hog-tie the attorneys and their multibillion-dollar law firms. The insurance companies are not all at fault because you have the Pharmaceuticals in the doctors also wagging the tail of the dog. All I can say, is my wife is alive today and I didn't have some 20 or $30,000 copay to deal with like I probably would have had if I were living in the USA and going with Obamacare. I hope this gives you a better understanding.

LTC (Join to see) - I'm glad she is doing well. I am somewhat surprised however that they embedded a piece of drug paraphernalia (i.e. roach clip) in her brain. Did it have ash & burn marks, or was it a new one? ;-)

CPT (Join to see) it was more like a roach clip for a Chucky doll LOL. It was probably about 1/3 scale and the doctor carried one on him like a dog tag around his neck to show us. She still has some headaches from it. She stopped smoking because of it. The two druggie stepdaughters that I mentioned in past discussions is why she had an aneurysm to begin with. When she got frustrated, she would smoke three or four cigarettes back to back. The Cat Scan from the doctor in a post-operative appointment showed her the damage from smoking. She has not had a cigarette since the aneurysm. She did not normally refrain from cigarettes except for in stressful situations. It also runs in her family because she's had relatives older and younger than her suffer aneurysms and some of them died. She feels that she was meant to live so our younger daughters would have a decent upbringing. That's what she thinks the Creator kept her alive.

LTC (Join to see) - All kidding aside ... an aneurysm is a developmental defect that can be found in any of the arteries of the body. Since it is beyond the scope of my practice I have limited knowledge of these things except how very dangerous they can be. The most serious I can recall from school is an aneurysm of the Circle of Willis and Aortic aneurysms (whether dissecting or not). I have a very good friend that has a dissecting Aortic aneurysm which is a very rare & very bad type to have.
Have they checked everywhere with dye (or whatever they use now) to make sure she doesn't have any more?
There is bound to be a neurosurgeon or neurologist Medical Corps officers on RallyPoint. Perhaps he will pick up this string and contact you off post.

In Tibet, the language police or kind of like the Protectors of vice and virtue in the Muslim Taliban or Isis world. If you have a menu at a restaurant in Quebec, it better be in English in the back and smaller font and in French in the front with bigger font. They also control what words are added to the language and what is considered wrong so if you add an English words on a French menu because there is no equivalent and they don't agree with it, you are fined!

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen the Alberta's would say no because they wouldn't want to give up their free healthcare. If Healthcare were to be included, they would gladly say yes. We also pick up quite a few bases including a base of British use to train their brigades in Southeast Alberta. Just north of Malmstrom Air Force Base

LTC (Join to see) - Do we not already have enough "whiny babies" in the US without adding some more from the frozen north? If they were willing to "Ranger-Up" and get with the program of self-reliance, sure ... welcome aboard. Otherwise they can keep their own socialist agenda.
