The Pacific Ocean was Japan's Russia, their navy was incapable of supplying various islands and countries.

To a degree, it was the problem in all of Asia. The Japanese Army made the assumption that the soldiers could make do by foraging in the occupied territories, which might have worked if modern warfare wasn't so destructive and the Japanese hadn't murdered and/or brutalized the local populations. If you look at the retreats out of India/Burma, or in New Guinea, they ended up being death matches of disease and starvation.
I would also point out that the Japanese never developed an effective Anti Submarine Warfare strategy and the American Submariners decimated the Japanese merchant fleet after correcting the original problems with the torpedoes.

MAJ Ken Landgren - Military History maniac. Love the stuff beyond the History Books. The American Pacific Submarine fleet has always fascinated me, although I didn't have the desire to be a Submariner. They were so effective that by the last year of the war, they were mainly assigned to rescue downed pilots. Comparatively, our boats were hi tech and much more comfortable for the crews, first naval vessels with A/C ,although it was more about reducing the moisture in the electronics. They had radar early and were capable of some long range patrols that allowed them to prowl most of the enemy's territorial waters.
