Well, if you don't do any of those things, you clearly don't qualify for snowflake status

MSgt (Join to see), I lived in Slidell for 2.5 years, starting in JUL86, so I’m a long time removed from Louisiana politics. Edwin Edwards was governor at the time.

I read a little about John Bel Edwards and found this. “In 1988, Edwards received a bachelor's degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy, where he was on the Dean's List and served as vice chairman of the panel that enforced the West Point honor code.
Edwards completed Airborne School in 1986, while he was a student at West Point. After receiving his commission, he completed the Infantry Officer Basic Course at Fort Benning (1988), Ranger School (1989), and the Infantry Officer Advanced Course (1992). Edwards served in the Army for eight years, mostly in the 25th Infantry Division and 82nd Airborne Division, including commanding a company in the 82nd's 3rd Brigade, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He ended his military career to return to Louisiana because of family considerations. Edwards earned a J.D. degree from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1999, and he was a practicing attorney with the Edwards & Associates Law Firm in Amite.
Edwards is a conservative Democrat who is anti-abortion and pro-gun rights.”

Although a Democrat, he seems somewhat conservative. Has he proved to be a reasonable governor thus far? I ask because in Tennessee (a few terms back) we had a two term Democratic governor who more often than not, governed like a Republican.

I was also gratified to know that he is not related to Edwin Edwards, who was convicted of racketeering in 2001, some 15 years after he “nominated, constituted and appointed” me a “Colonel” and “Aide de Camp” on his staff! ;)

John Bel Edwards military record is very good. However, it does not mean that he is a good Governor. He said he would not raise taxes and did. He did work to give the teachers a pay raise, which was laughable and sad at the same time...$1000 per year raise. Seriously, that is $83.33 per month BEFORE taxes. Almost every year he has threatened to cut TOPS (a college program for high school students) from the budget because of funding. And the list goes on. But, he is the Governor and we will have to live with it for another 4 years.

I perfectly well understood MSgt (Join to see)'s point, SGT Tom McWilliams. The recently reelected governor is not who he supported but he acknowledges that Edwards is still the governor.
If you'll read what I wrote, you'll find that I never even questioned any of that. I simply asked had he proved to be a reasonable governor (from MSgt (Join to see)'s perspective).
