About 1970 I asked myself why 200 million Americans were spending all sorts of money defending 180 million rich western Europeans from 240 million impoverished people in the USSR. I still do not understand why we did it, or continue to do it.
America's original sin was slavery, but number two on the list has to be giving up our neutrality to join WWI to save the Germans of Alsace-Lorraine for France.
